Last week, Alexa announced its new ranking policy. The new ranking policy claimed that Alexa’s new ranking algorithm are now based from multiple sources — which is more diversified rather than the old algorithm which rely solely on the usage of Alexa Toolbar– although these so called resources were not clear yet (I double checked at Alexa’s official blog and didn’t find any explanation on those sources for the new algorithm).
This new ranking policy had some major impact on bloggers from all around the blogosphere, and most of the effects weren’t satisfactionary at all … :(.
Sudden Jump on The Big Dog’s Alexa Rank
During last week, there’s some report on top blogger’s sudden jump on Alexa rankings.
What Alexa’s New Ranking Did For Me
Alexa’s new ranking didn’t do much for this blog, it still remains in the 500k range. As for my consumer electronic review blog …., it didn’t have much luck as this blog :(. The rank was in the 700k range and now is rising on the 900k range.
Conclusion
Although there was a huge revamp on the Alexa Ranking algorithm, the top bloggers doesn’t seem to care much about it. But I don’t think the same thing applies for fellow bloggers who do paid review for a living. If I’m not mistaken, Alexa Rank was one of the factor to determine the payout per review, so the change on Alexa Ranking must’ve done something to them (I don’t know much about paid review, but if what I’m saying is wrong, please correct me in the comment below
).
