24 Hours Result - Confession of A Newbie Entrecard User

Posted by Ditto Rahmat | March 22, 2008 .

entrecard-newbie-confession.jpgYesterday I stumbled on a blog post on blog traffic building (ugh, can’t remember the blog, I’ll edit this post as on I find it) and it mentioned that his/her blog traffic mainly comes from blog communities (MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog) and Entrecard. Hmm, since I’m already a member of blog communities (although not an active one), I decided to give it a shot and applied to Entrecard.

After dropping 200++ credits and receiving 50++ credits (and those received credits also counts as a visit of course) back in return, I was thrilled to see my blog visit stats skyrocketed to 70++ visits compared to the usual 10++ visits per day (yeah yeah, you can laugh all you want, but I still consider this a rather huge boost to my traffic since my blog is relatively new and also I’m a newbie blogger).

Although the bounce rate from those visits was quite high, around 70%, there’s at least 20 visitor who actually took time to read to my blog post. I also had 7 feed subscriber and 2 sign up on the free traffic ebook. IMHO, Entrecard has done fairly well on driving traffic to my new blog.

How’s your experience in using Entrecard? Do you have any suggestion that I can use to further the (ab)use of Entrecard? Feel free to comment below.

Well, I just restarted four blogs from a fistful of old ones that I played around with for a year or so (the old ones now decommissioned), fresh with new domain names, and threw up 10-20 posts each before deciding to draw traffic to them.

Today, 3/23/08 here in Japan (on an ‘extended vacation’ - can’t wait to get back to the States), I made my first efforts towards drawing traffic using Entrecard…. I already got a small handful visitors within the past couple of hours!

Not sure of the specifics of how to go about making more than one account though, yet - or if I can have more than one blog on it. Right now Entrecard is working my http://www.eternalcamp.com blog…. I still have to see if it will also do http://www.nativenotion.com, http://www.stagemagicexplained.com, and http://www.veryinstrumental.com (getting a complete make-over this week).

If you like, get to e-mailing back and forth with me, and we can compare stats/pool knowledge.

Have you done anything with MyBlogLog or BlogCatalog? How are they? Or, what have you heard, if anything, as to how effective they are for drawing traffic?

By the way…. I’m a mite riveted by your content here - great work! You’ll see more of me here as the days go by.

Have a nice night! Uh, er, DAY - I think (night here).

Mistype - not ‘have you done anything with…. ‘ but ‘have you seen results with…. ‘ - I did see that you have them in your side bar hehe :P

Though, since your post says your blog is somewhat new, perhaps results are yet to be in?

My experience is similar to yours and I am also happy with Entrecard. I also like it because it has helped me find blogs I never would have known about before–like this one.

@Falls-Down-Laughing

Well, today’s the 3rd day using Entrecard and I’m fairly satisfied by the traffic it brought me. Up until this point, my blog has been getting frequent traffic, 30 or so, from Entrecard alone.

The key on using Entrecard is to drop daily (some of the blog you dropped will return to drop you back, thus giving you even more credits) and advertise aggresively using those credits you received.

Like Tom said, other than just exchanging banner for traffic, I do stumbled on many great blog I wouldn’t find anywhere else, so dropping credits and checking on newly found interesting blogs is always fun to me.

As for MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog, getting traffic from them means you also have to actively participate in discussions. If you’re too lazy to do that (like I do…), you could always choose to simply join community and add friends. Just make sure they are in the same area of interest as you are.

If you’re still not sure which community to join or who to add, you can simply search a community based on your keyword, join in and add the members in there as your friend. Some of your newly made friends are bound to come to your blog (at least I know I did).

If you’re still up for a discussion, feel free to contact me on the contact form.

Hello, welcome to Entrecard :) You’re gonna love it as much as I do.
We are having a give away of around 35,000 credits to those who register between 15th March-15th April 2008. Leave your entry to participating blogs (or my blog) if you want in!

I also have a couple of Entrecard guides for newcomers on my blog if you’re interested!

Enjoy your stay at Entrecard heh heh

Hi there,

I just signed up today with EC as well and did the same things you did. I’m getting decent traffic as well. At this point, my blog registered is fairly new so I’m thinking exposure will be the first priority at this point. I have older blogs as well. They all form part of my blog network of 4 blogs and I’m still working on couple more.

Although I haven’t been around too long to have proven EC’s worth, I have a few ideas on how bloggers can get the most traffic out of EC. Here’s a few things:

1. Gather as much credits as possible and advertise only on popular blogs that have high alexa rankings. This ensures you’ll get more chances for click throughs to your blog.

2. I only apply to advertise on blogs that have their EC widget above the fold of their blog. This ensures your 125×125 catches the eye of the visitors. If you’re apply to advertise on a popular blog, this can be bent because the blog gets higher traffic which means a lot of people will be catching that 125×125 no matter where it is placed.

3. I only approve advertisers that are relevant to my blog. Although this may have no direct advantage to directly getting more traffic it has other ways of doing so. By limiting your approved adverts, more EC members are likely to advertise with you because they see your blog being always available in the campaign categories tab. The more bloggers see your blog in that category, it will be more likely that they will check out your profile, visit your blog and drop a card on your widget.

These 3 are my observations so far and I’ve gotten about 50 visits and 50 card drops in just a few hours since joining today.

I hope this helps. Thanks for letting me comment.

@Michael Aulia
I already joined the contest under Yimto Affiliate Marketing Blog, since it’s the same category as my blog, but thanks anyway for inviting me.

@Jeannette
Yeah, this stuff could get very addicting!

@DOTMEDOMAINS
As for me, I usually search my entrecard ad on recent tab(since new entrecard blog tends to have low ad price) and unseen tab, to diversify my entrecarding and also visit blogs that I never visited before in entrecard of course.

How’s your experience in using Entrecard?

Great! Dropping EntreCards is quite a chore however.

Do you have any suggestion that I can use to further the (ab)use of Entrecard?

Remember to reciprocate the drops!

@Deimos
Yeah, I agree dropping entrecard can be quite a tedious task. As for reciprocating drops, I think this has been working quite well on my side.

@Nyssa
I’m glad you find it useful. Anyway, selamat datang di Entrecard :)
